My latest shoe discovery: Stylish block heels that is affordable

Love shoes? Consider yourself a collector but this year it doesn’t look like your salary is going to stretch to a pair of designer heels each payday? Then you need to read about my discovery…

FRANCO Gemelli: designer style without the price tag

If you’re familiar with women’s footwear brand FRANCO Gemelli, you’re probably already a fan. I’m so impressed with my new heels, that I had to share my discovery with you.

I was invited to the Met this year and needed a dress – and shoes. Because it’s a daytime event, I didn’t want to go to my usual standard collection of black stilettos and sandals. I wanted a shoe that matched my silvery pink dress, in a lighter colour, while still managing to look sexy, and comfortable enough to be able to tramp around a racecourse – but without being so sensible that I looked like a matron on night shift.

I decided on my colour (nude) and started browsing online. Zando stocks a limited FRANCO Gemelli selection but I had been offered a pair to try a while ago so found this pair on their distributor website

I chose a style that is classic enough to be part of my wardrobe for years, plus nude is a colour that goes with pretty much everything, and most importantly, the block heel means that I could walk in them without wobbling or sinking my heels into grass.

I can dress them down for work and wear them with black at night too. And at only R449, they won’t break the budget – but look as if they cost a lot more.

My shoes and I had great fun at the Met and we both withstood all the walking!
