I was invited to the Met this year and needed a dress – and shoes. Because it’s a daytime event, I didn’t want to go to my usual standard collection of black stilettos and sandals. I wanted a shoe that matched my silvery pink dress, in a lighter colour, while still managing to look sexy, and comfortable enough to be able to tramp around a racecourse – but without being so sensible that I looked like a matron on night shift.
I decided on my colour (nude) and started browsing online. Zando stocks a limited FRANCO Gemelli selection but I had been offered a pair to try a while ago so found this pair on their distributor website
I chose a style that is classic enough to be part of my wardrobe for years, plus nude is a colour that goes with pretty much everything, and most importantly, the block heel means that I could walk in them without wobbling or sinking my heels into grass.
I can dress them down for work and wear them with black at night too. And at only R449, they won’t break the budget – but look as if they cost a lot more.
My shoes and I had great fun at the Met and we both withstood all the walking!
